R. Scott Van Nest, MS, PT

Owner & Clinic Director

Mr. Van Nest is a broadly trained physical therapist well-regarded for his ability to successfully treat orthopedic problems, especially those that are difficult and/or long-standing. He also has extensive experience in sports medicine and athletic training, and has worked with many athletes at the high school, college and professional level.

Mary Niemeyer, PT

Physical Therapist

Mary has been a therapist for 35 years with experience in the outpatient clinic setting for the past 27 years. Mary has taken a wide variety of continuing education courses in manual therapy for the spine and extremities and feels that her skill as a manual therapist is one of her strengths.

Kristen Soens, DPT

Clinic Director

Kristen Soens is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a graduate of Saint Louis University. She has experience treating a variety of diagnoses in a wide range of functional activity levels. Kristen utilizes a multitude of interventions that allow her to personalize treatments for each individual patient. She has a passion for collaborating with patients to help achieve their goals. Kristen is the Clinic Director for SMTC at Creve Coeur Racquet Club.

Becky Meadows, PTA

Physical Therapy Assistant

Becky is a 1993 graduate from St. Louis Community College at Meramec where she received an Associates degree in applied science for physical therapist assistant. Becky has 14 years experience in outpatient physical therapy. Becky has experience treating a wide variety of patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Rachel Kinser, PTA

Physical Therapy Assistant

Rachel is a 2006 graduate of St. Louis Community College at Meramec where she received her Associates of Applied Science Degree for Physical Therapist Assistant. She has had experience in outpatient orthopedic therapy clinics both during and after school. She enjoys working with patients of all levels.

B. Scott Roberts, MS CSCS

Director of Performance Training

Scott has a Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics. He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Scott is the former Operations Manager and Director of Performance Training at Missouri Bone and Joint Center, the Director of Sports Performance at Vetta Sports Clubs, as well as the strength and conditioning coach for the Chicago Cubs Baseball Club (AAA Iowa Cubs). Scott is currently the Director of Performance Training at SMTC.

Sara Cogan, MS

Exercise Physiologist

Sara has been practicing as an Exercise Physiologist since 1997, working first as a personal trainer and PE teacher. In addition, she has practiced in both cardiac rehabilitation and wellness, focusing on rehabilitation from both cardiac events and surgery. Most recently, Sara worked in disease management, working with but not limited to clients with diabetes, congestive heart failure, heart disease, musculoskeletal disorders and diseases, osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, cancer, depression and physical disability. In addition to clinical practice, Sara has a strong interest in research and writing in Exercise Physiology.

Wallace H. Barrett, Jr., MS Ex. Phys.

Exercise Physiologist and Personal Trainer

Wallace (Sonny) has been practicing as an Exercise Physiologist/Personal Trainer since 1993. He has multiple years experience in exercise testing and prescription. Sonny has worked with the St. Louis Blues Hockey Team in '93, '94, '95 and the Arkansas Razorback Track Team in '94 and '95. He is sought after as a Personal Trainer and continues to work with athletes on every level.

Dan Craig, CSCS

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Dan earned his Bachelors of Science in Health Management with an emphasis in Fitness and Sports Medicine from Southeast Missouri State in 2004. He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. While attending Southeast Dan was a member of the football team was the President of Racquetball Club Sports. He trains athletes of all levels and has previous experience working at the Missouri Bone and Joint Center, as well as Vetta Sports Club.

Travis Harper, BS

Exercise Physiologist

Travis has a BS in Exercise Science from Truman State University. Since 1995, he has worked in a variety of exercise related fields including physical therapy, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and fitness. He has experience in personal training and sports conditioning with clients of various ages and abilities.

 

Carrie Sickmann, MS ATC

Certified Athletic Trainer

Carrie graduated from Lindenwood University with a BS in Athletic Training in 2004 and a Master of Science in Health Management in 2006. She has previous experience working with collegiate athletes and has been excited to have the opportunity to work with athletes at Clayton High School and the Clayton Lacrosse Team. She has also had the pleasure to assist with the Go! Marathon in ’07, ’08, & ’09, AIM Field Hockey, USTA Wheelchair National Championships, and the USTA 14 and 16 year old Zonals. She is currently one of the directors of the Healthy Kids Summer Camp.

 

Erica Asher, ATC CSCS

Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Erica has a BS in Exercise Science from Truman State University. She was certified as an Athletic Trainer in 2002, and as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2005. Formerly the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Missouri Baptist University from 2003-2006, Erica is now delighted to serve as Athletic Trainer for the talented student-athletes at Lindbergh High School. She also works with the Lindbergh Flyers Hockey Club, and the St. Louis Bombers Rugby Club.

 

Jason Fry, SPC

Certified Sports Performance Coach

Jason Fry is a 2008 graduate from Missouri Baptist University where received a bachelors degree in Exercise Science, and was a four year starter on the MBU men's varsity basketball team. Jason is a Certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting and has been coaching athletes in basketball and performance training for 5 years. For the past 2 years he has served as the boys varsity assistant coach for the Whitfield Warriors.

 

Julie Sontag, CSCS

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Personal Trainer

Julie is a personal trainer and group exercise instructor at SMTC-CCRC and is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She has her Exercise Science and Sports Medicine degree from Ball State University. She understands that goals require hard work and dedication, and is willing to assist her clients in any way possible to achieve these goals.
