The Ivory Crockett Run ‘4’ Webster was established in 2004. It honors Ivory Crockett, a 1968 graduate of Webster Groves High School. In 1974, Mr. Crockett set a world record time of 9.0 seconds in the 100 yard dash, a record which still stands today.  The Run ‘4’ Webster was inspired by Mr. Crockett’s wish to give something back to the community, which has given so much to him.

Third Annual Run '4' Webster Highlights - October 6, 2006
The Ivory Crockett Run '4' Webster celebrated its 3rd annual running with great weather, great finishing times and a great turnout.  Adam MacDowell, 27, of Glendale, was the male overall course champion with a time of 20:03.  This shaved 8 seconds off the previous course record of 20:11, also set by MacDowell at the inaugural Run '4' Webster held in 2004.  Matt Helbig, 22, of St. Louis, placed second with a time of 20:16.  Liam Revell, 26, of St. Louis, who was the 2005 champoin, placed third at 20:43, which was 17 seconds faster than his winning time last year.  Newcomer Maureen Conley, 22, of Ballwin won the female overall with a time of 24:00, matching the previous female course record set in 2004 by Judy Dorpinghaus.  Her sister Maggie, also 22, finished a close second at 22:10.  Helen Alexander, 43, of St. Louis, finished third overall and first in the Masters' division at 25:46.  The male Masters' champion was Rob Thames 46, of Kirkwood with a time of 22:55 which was 5th overall.

Records were also broken in attendance with 259 finishers in the 4 mile event as well as approximately 250 participants in the companion events, a 1 mile family fun walk and a 100 yard dash for kids 3-12, which is staged every year to commemorate Mr. Crockett's achievement.  This year the event was co-organized by the Sports Medicine & Training Center and the Webster Groves School District Foundation, and was directed by Craig Virgin.  Ivory's special guest was Coach Ken Manwarring of Webster Groves High School.  Major sponsors were: Forest Park Hospital, Novus Companies, National City Bank, Straub's Market, SanSai Japanese Grill, Orthopedic Alliance, and Woodard Cleaning and Resoration.  Proceeds will benefit the the Ivory Crockett scholarship for graduating Webster Groves Seniors, as well as the Foundation's ongoing projects in the Webster Groves School District.
